Jim Earl Young Obituary
Jim Earl Young was born on November 4, 1948, in Hinton, Oklahoma to Earl and Ethel Pansy Scott Young. He passed away on July 8, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. Jim grew up in Binger, Oklahoma, and graduated from Binger High School. He attended college for a few years and went on to become an exceptional mechanic—one with a talent for fixing just about anything. His specialty was motorcycles, and it wasn’t uncommon to find a few Hells Angels parked outside waiting for the only man who could get their bikes running again. He also worked for many years in the oil field as a pipe inspector and was a bit of an innovator—one of the first people to develop a gas-powered bike. Lisa followed along behind him in the pickup, just in case. Jim had a deep love for fishing and horses. He and his beloved wife Lisa created a fish camp where they taught their grandchildren how to fish and enjoy the outdoors. He especially loved watching his grandkids’ sports and school activities, always bringing drinks, snacks, and treats—not just for them, but for the whole team. One of Jim’s fondest companions was his horse, Red, who was more than just a riding horse—he helped Jim work on cars. Red learned to bring tools to Jim as he lay under vehicles wrenching away, though sometimes, when bored, Red would sneak off and toss the tools into the yard. Jim also had a playful side and especially enjoyed Halloween, sometimes scaring the neighborhood kids and other times dressing up to go trick-or-treating—with his parrot on his shoulder. Jim never met a stranger. He would stop to help anyone broken down on the side of the road, and he always had a story to share—especially if you’d been somewhere he had. His kindness, his stories, and his laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his spouse, Lisa Lee Ann Williams of Binger, Oklahoma; his daughter, Anachristy Michelle McCallister of Frisco, Texas, grandchildren, Cole Scott McCallister and wife Sophia of Cincinnati, Ohio, Peyton Thomas McCallister of Frisco, Texas, and Grace Elizabeth McCallister of Frisco, Texas, his daughter, Shawnda Lea Jaques and husband Michael of Hinton, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Christanna Nicole Edmonds of Norman, Oklahoma and Gabriel James Edmonds of Hinton, Oklahoma, and James Ashley Young of Binger, Oklahoma; his siblings, Jack Young, Gail Young, Scott Young, and Curtie Young, his pets, Arloz, Ginger, Kit Kat, Max, and Pepper Layne, as well as many other cherished relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ethel Young; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Young; his sisters Patsy Howell and infant Joyce Young; sister-in-law Evelyn Young; once companion and life long friend, Rhonda Opitz Young, and his beloved dog, Duke.
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date to be announced to honor and remember Jim’s incredible life and the legacy he leaves behind.
