Janice Maurine (Erlenmaier) Waldrop Obituary

Janice Maurine Waldrop, 85, of Hinton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at The Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, Oklahoma. She was born on August 16, 1939, in Greenfield, Oklahoma, to Gustive Luther and Ruth Lois (Rinehart) Erlenmaier.  Janice graduated from Greenfield High School in 1958 and married Bennie Lindley the same year. The couple began their life together in Lookeba before moving to Hinton, where they lived until 1990. On April 23, 1990, Janice married Marion Franklin Waldrop in Wheeler, Texas. They made their home in Pampa, Texas, before moving to Elgin, Oklahoma. In 2020, Janice returned to Hinton to be closer to her family.  A devoted Christian, Janice was saved and baptized at a young age and was an active member of the Eastern Star and Porter Hill Baptist Church. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, and working in her yard, and she took great pride in growing beautiful flowers.


Janice is survived by her two children: Steve Lindley and wife Tricia of Hinton, and Twani Ellis of Hinton; grandchildren: Bryan Lindley of White Oak, North Carolina; Logan and Christian Lindley of Weatherford; Tawni and JW Briscoe of Hinton; Lindsey and Jeff Hedrick of Binger; Christelyn and Erick Matos of Clermont, Florida; Casey Lindley of Pleasant View, Tennessee; and great-grandchildren: Cabreigh and Denton Dahlenburg of Clarksville, Tennessee; Kinsleigh Klassen of Hinton; and Briley and Brecken Hedrick of Binger; Kalani and Trey Matos of Clermont, Florida.  She is also survived by three sisters: Barbara Sinclair and husband Glen of Watonga; Iva Nell Walker of Kingfisher; and Betty Edgar and husband Dick of Graham, Texas; as well as her brother-in-law, Buford Sinclair of Watonga and daughter-in-law, Nally Lindley of Navarre, Florida.


Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Gustive and Ruth Erlenmaier; sister, Patsy Sinclair; son, Luther Lindley; husband, Marion Waldrop; son-in-law, Allen Ellis; and brother-in-law, Leroy Walker.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Hinton Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, Oklahoma, with Reverend Jordan Parnell officiating.


Services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, OK.
