Obituary

Jamelia Gray was born on October 28, 1934, to James C. "Crit" and Gertrude J. (Landers) Gabehart in Sickles, Oklahoma.  She passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Jamelia grew up in the Sickles area, where she graduated from Sickles High School.  She married Ronald Gray on September 18, 1953, in Lookeba, Oklahoma.  The couple moved to Oklahoma City, where Ron attended Oklahoma City University.  Jamelia worked for The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission during their time there.  Ron was hired by Western Electric Defense Projects, and his first assignment was to MIT in Massachusetts for training in testing the SAGE Air Defense System.  After this training, Ron and Jamelia lived in many parts of the United States including Petersburg, VA; Duluth, MN; Antigo, WI; Havre MT; Winslow, AZ; and Phoenix, AZ, before ending up in Kansas City, MO, for 20 years, where Jamelia worked as a cosmetologist and real estate agent.  In 1984, the couple settled back in Oklahoma City.  Jamelia was a member of the Willing Workers Club in Hinton and attended Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City. 

 

Jamelia was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Gertrude Gabehart; brother, Jimmy Gabehart; and sister, Cleada Sullaway.

 

She is survived by her husband, Ron Gray of the home in OKC, OK; 2 children, Mark Gray and wife Susan of Stillwater, OK and Bruce Gray of Yukon, OK; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Manovsky of Heber Springs, AR, April Gray of Midwest City, OK, Max Gray of Stillwater, OK, Chad Gray of Ada, OK and Ryan Gray of Edmond, OK; five great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Services: 10AM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, First Christian Church, Hinton, OK
