Helen Lois (House) West

Helen Lois West was born August 11, 1934 to Leslie Abner and Viola Irene (Davis) House in Hinton, OK.  She passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at her home in Hinton at the age of 88.  Helen graduated from Lookeba High School.  She and Richard Jay “Dick” West were united in marriage in June of 1952.  She worked alongside Richard as the secretary at the Sentinel Schools.  After Richard’s passing, she served as Postmaster at the Sentinel Post Office.  Helen began working as Postmaster in Hydro, OK in 1989 and moved to Hinton in 1990.  She enjoyed reading, painting and art, pulling weeds in her yard, being outdoors and traveling.  She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Hinton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Viola House, husband Dick West, son, Mike West, grandson, Richard Douglas West, great grandchild, Gage Allen West, and one brother, Hershel House.

Helen is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Farris of Hinton, and Terri West of St. Augustine, FL; five grandchildren, Michael West and wife Aimee of Woodward, Natalie Rose and husband Nathan of Woodward,  Jody West and wife Tawnya of Ft. Cobb, Bullit Farris and wife Holly of Hinton, and Bree Osborn and husband Jessie of Elk City, OK; eleven great grandchildren, Dylon, Maddie, and Rylee West, Kash Rose, Stetson, Kreek, and Ember West, Lennon and Jake Farris, and Kaseton Farris and Acelynn Osborn; one sister, Dorothy Dunn of Lookeba; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
