Helen Marie McCathern was born on September 30, 1933 in Anadarko, Ok to Jesse and Annie Bell Upton. Helen passed away on June 27, 2023 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 89. Helen grew up in Anadarko, OK and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1954. Helen married Marvin McCathern on October 20, 1956 in Anadarko, OK. They raised four children together, Farron, Scott, Carla, and Ross. Helen loved to cook, liked to peruse cookbooks, and keep her favorites written in her notebook. She had special desserts for each grandchild that she enjoyed making for them, and family favorites that she often made for everyone. She enjoyed canning, Westerns, liked reading the newspaper every afternoon, and loved playing board games with her grandkids. Helen was a good Christian woman who loved to study the Bible every day and was a member of the Gracemont Church of Christ.

Survivors Include: her children, Farron McCathern and wife Rhonda of Clinton, Scott McCathern and wife Carol of Clinton, Carla McCathern of Anadarko, Ross McCathern and wife Sherry of Anadarko, her grandchildren, Chris McCathern and wife Terra of Clinton,  Jami Dudgeon and husband Justin of Clinton, Sarah Galbraith and husband Adam of Noble, Cayla Ray and husband Aaron of  Clinton, Catie Williamson and husband Brad of Mustang, and Jennifer Adams of Anadarko, her great-grandchildren, Malyssa, Wyatt, Morgon, RaeAnna, Brittany, Kaylee, Tayah, Jaitin, Payslee , K.J., Aubree, Stella, Avery, Landon, Dakota, Tyler, Lexa, and Leslie, her great great grandchildren, Landon, Thalia, and Breland, her sister, Pearl Turner of Lindsay, sisters-in-law, Myrtle McCathern of Yukon, Violet Repp of Lawton, brother-in-law,  Freddie McCathern and wife Patsy of Gracemont, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Annie Bell Upton, her husband, Marvin McCathern, her grandson, Lance Merrill, her sisters, Ruby Croxson and Lois Casteel, her brother, Carl Upton.

Services: Church of Christ, Friday, 2:00 PM, June 30, 2023,  Gracemont, OK

Burial: Murray Cemetery, Binger, OK
