Gene Fogle Obituary

Doyce Eugene “Gene” Fogle was born on October 12, 1941, in Gracemont, Oklahoma, to Dorothy Mae Bussell and Robert David Fogle. He was the only child from their marriage but became part of a blended family with 14 siblings after his parents remarried.

Gene attended Spring Creek and Gracemont schools until the age of 16 when he moved to California to live with his Uncle Glen and Aunt Wilma. There, he formed a close bond with his cousins, Nelda and Anita, leading to many cherished memories together. After saving enough money to buy a car, Gene returned to Oklahoma to be closer to his family.

On June 2, 1962, Gene married Ester Sue Bradshaw, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. They raised five children and enjoyed time with their 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Gene was a dedicated family man with a diverse career, working in oil, transportation, and eventually retiring from Hollytex Carpet Mills after 32 years. He earned his GED in 1990 and served on the Gracemont School Board for eight years.

Gene had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hobbies such as hunting and camping. He had a deep love for the mountains, where he found peace and joy in nature.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Gracemont, Gene was ordained as a Deacon in 1968 and lived his faith daily.

Gene passed away due to leukemia and heart failure, preceded in death by his parents, wife Ester, three brothers, three sisters, and many relatives and friends.

Gene is survived by seven siblings, five children (Penny McCasland and husband John of Anadarko; Sheila Arrington and husband Scot of Gracemont; Leshia Brummell and fiancé Erika of Minco; Travis Fogle and husband Daniel of Duncan; and Glen Fogle and wife Kerri of Anadarko); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.

A service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Gracemont, Oklahoma, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Officiating:  Rev. Blake Taylor and Rev. Brian Doughty

Burial:  Gracemont Cemetery, Gracemont, OK
