Gary "Reese" Courtney Obituary
Gary “Reese” Courtney, April 2, 2005 – October 14, 2025
Gary Reese Courtney, known and loved by all as Reese, was born April 2, 2005, in Edmond, Oklahoma, to Gregory Keith and Traci Lynnette (Mullins) Courtney. He passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 20.
Reese grew up in Lookeba and graduated from Lookeba-Sickles High School in 2023, where he was active in baseball and basketball. He was an outdoorsman at heart who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. In recent years, he developed a passion for golf and could often be found trading on Facebook Marketplace or tinkering with big diesel trucks and old cars.
Reese was known for his kind heart, his honesty, and his love for people. He shared a special bond with his “Pops,” was proud to prove he could outshoot his brother Tristen, and always slightly coveted Mason’s truck. He was not ashamed that the world knew he was Aspen’s biggest fan. Reese and his best friend Aby, who was also his cousin, were thick as thieves. He always made time to care for those around him—especially his grandma Lola, whom he loved helping.
Reese made his home in Bessie, Oklahoma, with his girlfriend, Erin Dudgeon who he loved dearly. He cherished his role as a big brother figure to Zandalin, Aiden, and Caden, and deeply adored his nephews, Mac and Miles. Reese thought his dad was Superman and was never shy about giving his mom hugs or telling her how much he loved her. He had a deep love for music which he shared with his mom.
Reese is survived by his parents, Greg and Traci Courtney of Lookeba; his girlfriend, Erin, his brothers, Mason McCormick and wife Jordan of Weatherford, OK, Tristen Courtney and wife Annie of Weatherford; his sister, Aspen Courtney of Lookeba; grandparents Dennis and Linda Mashaney of Lookeba and Cam Mullins of Weatherford; great-grandparents Lola Mashaney of Hinton and Carol Mullins of Lookeba; and his beloved dog, Creed. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and countless friends who will miss him deeply.
Reese was preceded in death by his grandparents Gary Mullins and Donna Courtney; and great-grandparents Herschel Mullins, Vancel Mashaney, Bob and JoAnn VonAllman, Bud and Betty Thomason, Donald Courtney, Maud Hall, and Alonzo and Minnie Courtney.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Ethel McClain Gymnasium in Lookeba, Oklahoma, with David Brack officiating. Burial will follow at the Lookeba Cemetery in Lookeba, OK.
Donations are welcomed at any Legacy Bank location to the Reese Courtney Family Support Trust or mail to Legacy Bank, PO Box B, Binger, OK 73009 or to Ruff Creek Outfitters.
Reese will be remembered for his bright smile, his loyalty to those he loved, and the big-hearted way he lived every single day.
