Obituary

Gary James Duncan was born on April 10, 1939, in Canadian County, OK to Sherman James and Goldie Marie (Keely) Duncan. Gary passed away on July 21, 2022, in Corn, OK at the age of 83. Gary graduated from Geary High School in 1957. Gary married Betty Ann Coble on Oct. 18, 1957. During his young married life, he worked as a farmer and cattleman. He later worked as a finish carpenter and then owned and operated Woodworld Furniture for 20 years. He then owned and operated Duncan’s Body Shop from 1985-2005, and also owned and operated K&D Jet Boats with Steve Kurtz for many years. Gary was a member of DeMolay. He enjoyed working, going to the lake - boating, camping and teaching water skiing, motorcycles and bike trips - logging well over 100,000 miles on his bike, restoring cars and model airplanes. He was the fixer of all things. Gary was widely known as Papa.

 

 

Survivors Include: his wife, Betty Duncan of El Reno, OK; his children, Terry Duncan and Rochelle Fanning of Watonga, OK; Tammy Hawkins and husband Ray of Tuttle, OK; Pam Knight and husband Dustin of Yukon, OK; his grandchildren, Candy Reed and husband Matt of Midland, TX; Terance Duncan of Geary, OK; Goldie Kuriyama and husband Colby of Piedmont, OK; Leilani Gradle of Yukon, OK; Scarlett Hawkins of Tuttle, OK; Sterling Hawkins and fiancé Bailee Saye of Tuttle, OK and Kalani Gradle of Yukon, OK; his great grandchildren, London, Mattox, Legend, Falon, Crew, Hazel, Violet and Ledger; his nieces, Rhonda Laughlin and Marc Stagg, and Nancy Laughlin, his brothers in law and sisters in law, Joe and Barbara Coble and Jack and Rosemary Coble, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 

 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Goldie Duncan; his father in law and mother in law, John and Murry Coble; his grandson, Shelby Phillips; his sister, Wanda Jean Davis; his nephew, Ronald Laughlin, Jr.; and his brothers in law and sisters in law, Ronald Laughlin, Sr., Randell Crump, Delbert and Johnnie Collins, JD and Dorothy Coble, Leon and Inez Fowler and Jim and Lenore Coble.

The Family will have a Celebration of Life:

Geary Community Building: East Main, Geary, OK

Wednesday, July 27 at 2 p.m.

This will be a casual affair with food provided by family and friends so wear your comfy clothes and bring an appetite and stories about Gary.
