Fern Ricker

Nolia Fern Ricker was born on May 9, 1929 to Fay Mourer and Muriel Mae (Chronister) Weathers on the family farm west of Hinton, OK.  She passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Weatherford, OK at the age of 91.  Fern grew up west of Hinton, attending Pleasant View Country School and graduated from Hinton High School Class of 1947. Fern was united in marriage to John H. "Jack" Ricker on April 3, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Fern was employed with the Hinton Community Hospital, Canadian County Soil Conservation Office and the USDA at Fort Reno. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Hinton Church of Christ. 
 

Nolia Fern had a very adventurous spirit, obtaining her private pilot's license on July 15, 1965. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, oil painting, sewing, gardening, playing the piano and directing church choirs. Fern loved her pets, especially her dogs and talking parrots. She had an affinity for turquoise jewelry and Indian artwork. Fern was a spunky Mother and Grandmother, who lived life to the fullest. One never had to wonder what she was thinking!! 

Fern is survived by her daughters, Tena Faye Wilson and husband Smith B. of Taos, NM and Tammy Lou Huffstutlar and husband Rick of Hydro. Grandchildren, Larry Abrahamson of Calumet, Nacona Smith and wife Neesa of Hydro, Terry Smith of Salt Lake City, UT, Mandi Bigler and husband Danny of Pink, OK, Patti Wright and husband Chris of Corsicanna, TX. Great grandchildren John Murray, Jordan, Jaren, Joslyn Abrahamson, Newly Mae Smith, Alex and Austin Smith and Jessah Willey, Avery Bigler, Piper Goins, Rhett Wright, and great-great grandchild Harper Lee. As well as a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.  

Nolia Fern was preceded in death by her parents Fay M. and Muriel Mae Weathers, great-grandson Dalton Abrahamson and favored cousin Patty Weathers.

Fern’s family requests memorial donations be made to Bethel Church Association Restoration Fund, PO Box 294, Hinton, OK 73047.
