Estella Milner was born on August 15, 1937, in Bridgeport, Oklahoma, to Chesley Everett and Cuba (Meredith) Cauthron. She passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 87. Estella graduated from Hinton High School and was united in marriage to Virgil Milner on April 10, 1958, in Oklahoma City. Virgil preceded her in death on April 15, 2011, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Throughout their life together, Estella and Virgil relocated due to his service in the United States Air Force, living in Oklahoma City while stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, in Clinton during his time at Sherman Air Force Base, and later in Merced, California, while he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base. In 1981, they returned to southwest Oklahoma City and eventually moved to Edmond. Estella continued her career with the telephone company until she retired from Southwestern Bell as an Account Service Manager. She continued working in some capacity until her last job positions with Living Faith Ministries and the Church of God State Offices, while always wearing many hats and contributing in various areas of need. Estella was a woman of strong faith. For years, she attended Bible Study Fellowship and later served the ministry in a leadership capacity. She and Virgil loved to travel and made many friends throughout their many destinations. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved being involved in the lives and activities of her grandchildren.
Estella is survived by her two children, James Milner and his wife Lauren of Oklahoma City, and Lorri Darrah and her husband David of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Meghan Smith and her husband Matt of St. Louis, Missouri, Garrett Milner and his wife Morgan of Tulsa, Alyssa Milner of Denver, Colorado, Caroline Milner of Dallas, Texas, and Braden Darrah of Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Liam and Asher Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Cuba Cauthron, and her aunt, Georgia Meredith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m., August 8, 2025, at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City in the Chapel, with Pastor Kenny Adams officiating. A private family burial will take place at Bridgeport Cemetery in Hinton, Oklahoma. If attending the service, her family has requested that you dress in bright colors to celebrate Estella’s life.
