Eldon Dwayne Hawkins Obituary
Eldon Dwayne Hawkins was born on April 14, 1944 in Sickles, OK to Norman E. and Clara L. (Wells) Hawkins. He passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 in Weatherford, OK at the age of 81.
Eldon attended Hinton Schools and graduated from Hinton High School in 1962 before attending SWOSU. As a young man, you could often find him water skiing, hunting and fishing. He would also occasionally be found drag racing his car. He married the love of his life, Betty Hamilton on June 5, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Hinton. The couple then moved back to the farm that Eldon grew up on, where he farmed peanuts, cotton, milo, wheat and cattle. During this time, he enjoyed taking his family and kids water skiing, tent camping and later 5th wheel camping. Eldon taught numerous people how to water ski over the years. His goal was to visit all the lakes in Oklahoma. Eldon also drove a truck for Caddo County District 1 for 15 years and retired from both in 2013. He loved visiting over his CB radio, and it was there, he gained the handle and longtime nickname, “Chicken Hawk.” Eldon served as president on many boards: State Young Farmer & Rancher of Oklahoma, Farm Bureau Board of Caddo County, Hinton School Board, Lookeba Coop, Oklahoma Crop Improvement, Hinton Fair Board, and was a Honorary Chapter FFA member. Following retirement, you could find him watching the sports channel or western channel. Eldon loved being with his family. He turned an old house on his property into a woodworking shop and created pieces for all of his grandchildren including a grilling cart, bed, entertainment center, tables, chest, frames, cutting boards, pizza cutters and other various furniture. Eldon really was an artist with woodworking. He was a member of the Sickles Community Church in Lookeba.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Hawkins of the home in Hinton, OK; son, Terry Hawkins and wife Angela of Hinton, OK and daughter, Dianna Crissman and husband Kelly of Pauls Valley, OK; five grandchildren, Blake Hawkins and wife Kayla of Clinton, OK, Austin Crissman and wife Trevena of Sulphur, OK, Blayne Hawkins and wife Sage of Hinton, OK, Dakota Crissman and wife Logan of El Reno, OK, Blaire Tallman and husband Trenton of Stillwater, OK; five great grandchildren, Wyatt, Raleigh, Rowyn Hawkins, Leighton Hawkins, and Sloan Crissman; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
