Edith Sue "Susie" (Vincent) Smith Obituary

Edith Sue “Susie” Smith was born on March 3, 1952, in Delano, California, to Fred William and Opal May (McKern) Vincent. She passed away peacefully at her home in Hinton, Oklahoma, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 73.  Sue was raised in the Lookeba, Oklahoma area and later married the love of her life, Jack Smith, on July 28, 1967, east of Hinton. The couple made their home in the Hinton area, where they lived for the remainder of their lives together. Sue devoted her early years to being a stay-at-home mom and later worked as a fabricator and receptionist at 3M in Weatherford, Oklahoma, for 13 years.  Susie had a deep love for flowers and enjoyed creating beautiful arrangements for weddings, including those of her children and grandchildren. A creative soul, she also wrote poems and even authored a children’s book. She loved decorating, watching bare-knuckle boxing, and cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs and was always surrounded by their loyal companionship.  A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sue was active in her children’s lives, serving as a Cub Scout mom and participating in community life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton and cherished her family above all else, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Susie’s legacy of love, creativity, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved her.


 She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Smith of the home in Hinton; three children: Stacy Smith and wife Kelly of Hinton, Robin McLemore and husband Bryan of Hinton, and Jeff Smith and wife Carissa of Yukon, She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Stasha Aldrich of Bridge Creek; Josh McLemore and wife Haley of El Reno; Hunter Oglesby of Hinton; Brooke George and husband Hunter of Hinton; Kylie Dougherty and husband Andrew of Hinton; Laken Baker and husband Colton of Hinton; Cody Smith and Tiffany Elmore of Bridge Creek; Kourtney Wheeler and husband AJ of Oklahoma City; Madison Opitz and husband Stephen of Fort Cobb; Tia Kirsch and husband Tyler of Yukon; and Arin Springer and husband Dylan of Oklahoma City, she was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Lexus, Taver, Tinzlee, Dekkar, Blakely, Ruger, Xayne, Everett, Carsyn, Woods, Tailynn, Turner, Walker, and a great-grandbaby Kirsch on the way, Sue is also survived by one sister, Glenda Glenn of Oklahoma City, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Opal Vincent; an infant sister, Betsy Lee Vincent; siblings William Louis “Bill” Vincent, Bobby Vincent, Betty Lou Ray, Renie Doughty, Roy Vincent, James Vincent; and one grandchild, Payton Kole Oglesby.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Hinton, Oklahoma, with Rev. Keith Gillham and Rev. Jason Pucel officiating. Burial will follow at Hinton Cemetery.  services are under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, OK.
