Earl Edd Coil was born April 11, 1938 to Earl A. and Ruby Pearl (Self) Coil in Geary, OK. He
passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, OK
at the age of 83. Earl Edd graduated from Geary High School and received a wrestling
scholarship to wrestle at Lamar College in Colorado. Earl Edd was united in marriage to Shirley
Cockayne on October 6, 1961 in Geary, OK. He worked at various jobs throughout his life but to
name a few he worked as a police officer in Geary, managed the Groendyke Ranch in Geary for
many years, he also farmed and ranched himself, then retired from Blaine County District 1. He
was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed roping, riding horses,
watching bull riding, dog, and horse races, also going on road trips. Earl Edd was known as
Daddy, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and Uncle Earl Edd to his family and he loved telling them stories
of the good ole days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ruby Coil, sister, Eva Gae Self, and great-
granddaughter, Josie Lynn Pratt.
Earl Edd is survived by his wife Shirley Coil of the home, Geary; two daughters, Tammy
Houston and husband Billy and Anita Smith and husband Darin all of Geary; five grandchildren,
Audra Pratt and husband Philip, Prescott Houston and his wife Kendra, and K.P., Stuart, and
Sterling Smith all of Geary; four-great grandchildren, Lanson, Hesstin and Jett Pratt and Riggins
Houston; nieces, and nephew, GayeLynn Shropshire of Sulphur, OK, Lea Ann Tindall of
Fairview, OK, Terri Kay Self-Pennington of Piedmont, OK, Rita Erbes of Orland Maine, Shelli
Cockayne of Mustang , OK and Jeff Cockayne of Geary ; brother-in-law, Joe Cockayne and his
wife Star of Geary, OK.
