Doyle Ray Neely Obituary

Doyle Neely, age 88, of Greenfield, Oklahoma, passed away on November 19, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was the quintessential example of hard work and dedication in his life as a farmer/rancher and as a husband, father, mentor, and friend. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he was held in the highest regard by all who knew him. Doyle was born April 22,1936, to Raymond and Helen (Schaffer) Neely at their home in Geary, OK. Doyle's early years were spent attending Canadian Valley Country School, a one-room schoolhouse for grades 1-8. At age 8, Doyle contracted rheumatic fever which almost took his life and caused him to miss 6 months of school. His toughness was evident by making a full recovery. In 1947, his father purchased a home on a 320-acre farm where his love for farming and the outdoors began. It was his version of “Heaven on Earth” where he loved exploring and climbing trees. He took pride in his bird egg collection and taming baby squirrels...until he was bitten and had to endure a painful series of rabies shots. Doyle graduated from Greenfield High School in 1954, where he made many of his lifelong friendships. He was an active member of the 4-H club and FFA (Future Farmers of America). He loved showing livestock and his earliest honors were being named State Junior Master Farmer and winning the title of Wheat King. Doyle loved hard work and ran a successful wheat and alfalfa farm along with a full-scale cattle operation until his death. Retirement was never an option and he was admired by all who knew him for his dedication to his crops and livestock. He faced the many challenges of farming and ranching with strength, determination, grit and grace. Doyle married Patsy Doss in 1954, and together they had a son, Randall, born September 1, 1955. The couple lived in Watonga and later divorced. A few years later, Doyle began dating Rosemary Magness, from Geary. The two married in 1965, at the First Christian Church in Geary, OK. Rosemary was the love of his life, and they were married for 59 wonderful years. They were blessed by the birth of their children, Valerie, Brian, and Monica. They created a home and lifestyle filled with love. There are countless family memories of weekends spent at Fort Cobb Lake, and winter vacations snow skiing at their timeshare in Silverthorne, Colorado. In their “empty nester” years, Doyle and Rosemary enjoyed traveling the world with lifelong friends, Mike and Kaye Base. Highlights included many cruises,

touring Europe, the Mediterranean and seeing the beauty of foreign lands.

Doyle is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary Neely of Geary, OK, son, Randy Neely and his wife Vanda of Ponca City, OK, daughter, Valerie Cubbage and her husband Todd of Charlotte, NC, son, Brian Neely of Geary, OK, daughter, Monica Neely and her husband Grady Lembke of Edmond, OK,

his five grandchildren, Blaine Leggett, Neely Leggett, Jackson Cubbage, Graham Lembke and Hannah Lembke, his sister, Donna Kohl of Watonga, OK, brother, David Neely and wife Patty of Woodward, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen Neely and grandson, Michael Neely.
