On June upon the 7th (that's how Imogene referred to her birthday) 1929, a baby girl was born to Leroy Washington Wright and Hazel Lorene Riddle Wright in Lookeba, OK. Imogene was the older sister to Donald L. Wright and always called him her baby brother even into their 80"s and 90"s.
As a schoolgirl, she worked for the phone company in Lookeba for 10 cents an hour. She met the love of her life at the creamery in Lookeba and became Mrs. Bobby Gene Spear while still in High School. She graduated from high school in 1947 and they moved to Hinton, OK to try their hand at farming. Daughter, Patty Gene was born there in 1949. After a year of drought and a year of floods, they moved to Anadarko and got jobs. Imogene worked at the ASCS office for 32 years and knew all of the farmers and ranchers in Caddo County.
She and Bob enjoyed an active social life revolving around church, trips to Colorado, and boating and camping with their many friends. After Bob retired they even lived in their camper at Chickasha Lake.
After Imogene retired they spent many winters in South Texas and volunteered at the Oklahoma State Fair with other family members, which turned into a yearly family reunion. They were also very involved grandparents to their grandson's, Jeff, Branden and Zach.
Bob died in 2004 and for a time Imogene was lost but she remained faithful to Midway Baptist Church where her brother Don pastored and began a 20 year service with the Anadarko Hospital Auxiliary.
Imogene is survived by Daughter, Patty Spear-Maple and husband, Jim Maple, Grandsons, Jeffery Griffith and wife, Vickie, Branden Griffith, Zachary Johnston, Great Grandchildren, Alex and Zachary Odell, Dani and Leland Knight, Gabe and Alex Griffith, Jeran Johnston, Great-Great Grandchildren, Owen Scott Odell, Hazel Gene Odell, Evelyn Jo Knight, Walker Griffith, Magnolia Knight, (coming soon) Oakley Odell.
Bob and Imy never spent a night apart until he died. Now after 21 years, they are strolling through heaven's beauty, holding hands and catching up.
