Donald "Don" Frank Dudley Obituary

Donald “Don” Frank Dudley was born on September 22, 1944 on a small farm outside Adrian, Ga., to J.D. and Ida Pearl [Stewart] Dudley.  He passed away on September 13, 2025 at home in Lookeba, Ok. at the age of 80 years, 11months, and 22 days.  He graduated Adrian High School in 1962, graduated  Hughes Electronic School in Macon, Ga., and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Master’s degree in Business Administration at Oklahoma City University.  Don began his civil service career at Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1965. 


Don married Millie Hall on Jan. 1, 1966 in Fellsmere, FL. and made their first home in Dublin, Ga.  In July, he took a job with the U.S. Army at Ft. Gordon, Ga. teaching radar equipment and repair and moved to Wrens, Ga., where they had their first son, Donnie.  In 1968, he was hired by the U.S. Army Electronics Command and moved his family again, this time south of Atlanta. In June 1968 he was sent to Vietnam for one year as a civilian radar technician to inspect and repair radar sites all over South Vietnam, even in the most remote outposts.  He returned to the U.S. in July 1969 and traveled all over the southeast U.S., maintaining and repairing radar sites.  In April 1970, their second son, Derric was born. In May 1970 Don was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration where he was employed until his retirement in 2006.  In 1974, Don transferred to the FAA’s national training center in Oklahoma City as an instructor for radar equipment then computers and finally, instrument landing systems. In January 1979, David, son number three was born. In 1983, the family was joined by Tim Lang who became son number four. In 1994, Don, Millie and David moved to Lookeba, OK. where Don retired in 2006 after 40 years of service. They attended Sickles Community Church. In recent years, three sons and three grandchildren have relocated their families nearby to reunite and nurture the family unit. He will be deeply missed. 


Survivors include his wife, Millie Dudley of Lookeba, Ok., his children, Donnie Dudley and wife Sheri of Lookeba, Ok., Derric Dudley of Hinton, Ok., David Dudley and wife Misty of Lookeba, Ok., and Tim Lang and wife Elaine of Claremont, N.H., 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his sister, Martha Lamb of Kite, Ga., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends.


Don was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Ida Pearl Dudley, his siblings, Tommy Dudley, Rosa Pearl Hester, James Dudley, Jimmy Dudley and Nell Daniel.


Services: Sickles Community Church, Friday 10:00 AM, September 19, 2025, Lookeba, Ok.
