Don Lee Williams was born March 3, 1932, in a country farmhouse outside of Geary, OK.  He passed away December 21, 2024, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 92.  Don grew up in Oklahoma City and moved back to Geary when he was a sophomore in high school.  After graduation from Geary High School in 1951, Don enlisted in the US Army.  He served in the Korean War and was awarded numerous medals for his faithful service.  Upon his discharge in 1954 he began his career with the US Postal Service in Oklahoma City, OK.  He married Catherine Smith at the First United Methodist Church in Geary on March 11, 1955.  He attended Blackwell business school and later returned to the Geary area to farm and served as Postmaster for 15 years there.  Don farmed and raised cattle, sheep, horses, and wheat.  He loved riding horses in his free time.  He and Catherine found a deep passion for square dancing and were members of many clubs. They joined the Bison Twirlers in Geary and helped start the Roman Nose Whirlers in Watonga.  They, along with their good friends, Robert and Kathleen Leck, would travel around the area attending different dances well into their 80’s.  Don served as Legion Commander of the American Legion Post and was a member of the Geary Round-Up Club.  He and Catherine were members of the First United Methodist Church in Geary, OK.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Grace Pickett and one great-grandson, Hudson Hayes.

Don is survived by his wife of 69 years, Catherine, 3 children, Darrel Williams and wife Joyce of Fritch, TX, Duane Williams and wife Candy of Cookson, OK, and Lynda Morgan and husband Johnny of Pryor, OK, 6 grandchildren, Stacy Barrett and husband Antonio of Edmond, OK, Laura Hayes and husband Ryan of Woodward, OK, Darren Williams and Kimri of Edmond, OK, Amber Lawler and husband Travis of Bushland, TX, Dawson Williams and wife Misty of Fritch, TX and Logan Williams and wife Cassi of Fritch, TX, and a whole host of great-grandchildren.
