Derall Wayne Garrett was born October 16, 1941 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Glen R. and Cora Nadine (Killian) Garrett. He passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at his home in Bakersfield California at the age of 82. Derall graduated from Geary High School in 1960 and attended Fullerton College. He was united in marriage to Traves Christian January 22, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked in construction at Disneyland in California before moving back to Geary. Derall and Traves operated a Dairy for three years and a Locker Plant for five years. They built and operated a chain of convenience stores in Geary, Hinton, Tonkawa, Perry, Seiling, Mustang, Cordell, and Kingfisher. In 1987 he and Traves moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, where he built numerous log homes, and a strip mall, and owned and operated Pagosa Pawn Shop. They retired and moved to Bakersfield, California and 2008. Derall was a member of the Lathers Union, 32nd Degree Mason, and the First United Methodist Church in Geary. He was also a member of the Geary City Council. He was a loving husband, dad and doting papa. He enjoyed collecting diecast cars, antiques, oil lamps, going to the beach and boogie boarding, spending time at the lake with family and friends water skiing, snow skiing, woodworking, hunting, fishing, farming, traveling, and OU Sooner Football.
Derall lived life to its fullest. Never letting his age or prior injuries stop him. He was a fearless, hardworking, ornery man who always made time for enjoying his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Nadine Garrett, brother Glen Dale Garrett, and twin brother Gerald Garrett
He is survived by his wife, Traves Garrett of the home Bakersfield, California; special little fur baby: Fawn; five children, Derall Wayne Garrett, Jr., and wife Lora of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Lisa Pitcher and husband Mike of Bakersfield, California, Kim Aldridge and husband Elmer of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Doug Killian and wife Gloria of Bakersfield, California, Judy Blakley and husband Lee of Calumet, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren Allia, Alexis, Hadley, Keiden, Jada, Nalani, Tiffany, Rebecca, Renessa, Jeff, Rayna, Shonda, Kenneth, Danell, and Micah; 14 great grandchildren, two sisters, Sharon Daugherty and husband Bobby of Calumet, Oklahoma, Carol Matz of Tuttle, Oklahoma, sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Garrett of Geary, Oklahoma, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
