Darren Jay Tepe

Darren Jay Tepe was born on November 24, 1959, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Franklin D. and Lola Mae Tepe. Darren passed away on August 8, 2026, at 9:11 a.m. at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 66. Darren graduated from Stillwater High School in 1978. He went on to attend Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in the fall of 1982. In January 1983, Darren began working for Western Electric, later working with AT&T and Lucent Technologies for many years before beginning contract work for the FAA. He returned to Oklahoma State University and earned his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996. Darren was a true Oklahoma State Cowboy fan and proudly bled orange.

He retired early so that he and his wife, Gay Lynn, could enjoy traveling together. Throughout his life, Darren was known for his quick wit, funny personality, and was always the life of the party. He loved doing things himself that way he would know they were done right. Darren and Gay Lynn enjoyed many years of water skiing and snow skiing together. He was also an avid lover of golf and was in the process of reupholstering the seats in his beloved golf cart, which he had lovingly named “Scratch.”

Darren married the love of his life, Gay Lynn Jameson, on November 21, 1987, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. To this union, one son was born, Tanner Gerald Tepe.

Darren met his final days with courage, faith, and grace, never once complaining about his pain. Darren’s humor, kindness, determination, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Mae Tepe.

Darren is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gay Lynn; his son, Tanner, and his wife, Maddie; his father, Frank; his brothers, Joe Tepe and Bryan Tepe and his wife, Sherrie; his nephews, Spencer Tepe and Tyler Tepe and his wife, Makayla; and his nieces, Amberla Tepe and Twylene Tepe. He will also be lovingly remembered by many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Geary, Oklahoma, with Reverend Joshua Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Geary, Oklahoma.
