Colis Jackson Obituary

Colis Jean (Bates) Jackson was born February 12, 1941 in Eagle City, OK to William Abshire and Nona Kay Bates.  She passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 in Carnegie, OK at the age of 80.  Colis attended Concho and Chilocco and Concho Indian Boarding School, and graduated from high school and then attended college.  She married Eugene Jackson, Sr. on February 11, 1962 in Winterhaven, CA.  After Eugene’s passing in 1980 the family moved back to Oklahoma.  Colis worked as a teacher’s aide for man years.  She was a jack of all trades.  Her brothers taught her that she could do just anything a man could do.  She enjoyed attending church as well as listening to the beautiful music there. 

 

Colis is preceded in death by her parents. William Abshire and Nona Kay Bates, grandson, Stephan Lee Jackson, siblings, Oberlin Bates, Maurice Lime, Harry Homer Bates and Bobbi Simpson.

 

Colis is survived by 5 children, Lois Jackson, Robert Jackson Sr, of Parker, AZ, Stephanie Jackson Wolfe, Eugene Jackson Jr, and Joyce Jackson all of Ft. Cobb, OK, 11 grandchildren, Renee Stearns, Robert Lunsford, Judi McCowan, Robert Jackson, Jr., Daphnee Jackson, Tiffany Jackson, Kelvin Goodbear Jackson, Yolanda Jackson, Jacqueline Jackson, Brianna Jackson, Alyssa Jackson, and Patrick House, 38 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Geronimo Woolsey of Texas and James Allen Bates on Union City, OK.
