Carrol Glen "Butch" Hamilton was born September 3, 1945, in Hinton, OK, to Wilson Neal and Meda Vena (Smith) Hamilton. He passed away, Friday, September 8, 2023, at the age of 78. Butch graduated from Lookeba Sickles High School. From there he continued his education at SWOSU. Butch married Margie Sharry on May 14, 1968, in Las Vegas, NV. Butch had a goal to visit all 50 states while he and Margie dated, and they accomplished that goal. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this year. He worked nights at Sequoyah and worked for the Anadarko Fire Department. In 1976, he went to work for Sheriff Troy Massey at Caddo County. He played a vital role tending to the basic needs of the officers. In the beginning the officers had to use their own cars. Butch worked hard in the upkeep of the old jail building, where the county employees did most of the work keeping the building up to code to save the county money. He worked in law enforcement from 1976-2000. Butch was the first Sheriff in Caddo County to ever serve four terms in office. He started the DARE program in Caddo County. During these years his therapy was his farming and cattle. He was inducted into the Sheriff's Hall of Fame on July 14, 2001. He was one of four to initially be inducted as a lifetime member of the Sheriff's Association. He was awarded The Foundation Award and is listed on the Wall of Gratitude through the Lookeba Sickles Alumni Association. Butch enjoyed taxidermy, fishing, hunting, drawing, farming, was an avid OU football fan, and especially his 2 grandsons. He rebuilt Ford Model Ts and still worked on them. He was a jokester and was always pulling pranks. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK.
Butch is survived by his wife, Margie of the home in Anadarko, OK, 2 daughters, Lonna Schwab of Sickles, OK and Glenna Hamilton of OKC, OK, 2 grandsons, Chase and Hunter Schwab of Sickles, OK, 3 sisters-in-law, Joye Hamilton of Hydro, OK, Reta Hamilton of Hinton, OK, and Lorene Mills of Hinton, OK, brother-in-law, Larry Sharry of Ft. Cobb, OK, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Meda Hamilton, siblings, William Neal "Bill" and Garland Hamilton and an infant brother, his in-laws, Orby and Lima Sharry, and their children, Danny Sharry and wife Linda, Curtis Sharry and Corene Osborn, and special brother-in-law, Larry Mills.
