Carl David Ferguson, Jr.

Carl David Ferguson, Jr. was born December 3, 1958, to Carl David Ferguson, Sr. and Wilma Pauline (Eakins) Ferguson in Stuttgart, Germany. He passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home in Hinton, Oklahoma, at the age of 67.

David attended Weatherford Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Esther Ione Brookshire on May 20, 1978, at the Church of Christ in Hinton, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2018, in Hinton.

David and Ione made their homes in Weatherford and Thomas before moving to Hinton. Throughout his life, David worked in a variety of trades. He worked for George Shearer in the oilfield, North Caddo, ABC Fire Extinguisher, and later in the maintenance department at Sugar Creek Casino. David was also a talented mechanic and was always willing to work on vehicles and lawnmowers for family and friends. He owned and operated a Bait Shop as well.

David enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and working with his hands. He especially loved being involved with the Hinton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Hinton Volunteer Fire Department and the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association. He enjoyed riding along with Jeremy and C.D. whenever he had the opportunity.

Above all else, David loved his family, and his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. He treasured the time he spent with them and was always happiest when surrounded by those he loved.

David is survived by his three children, Melisa Gathers and husband Cory of Hinton, Oklahoma; Paula Johnson and husband Jeremy of El Reno, Oklahoma; and C.D. Ferguson and wife Kandi of Hinton, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Alyssa Cofer and husband Reece, Chea Boling and husband Dagen, Rory, Carly, Kamber, Tyler, Abby, and Kylie; one great-granddaughter, Ada Boling; one sister, Helen Seward and husband Rick of Weatherford, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Wilma Ferguson; his wife, Ione Ferguson; and two sisters, Kathy Webster and Debra Thomas.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, Oklahoma, with Rev. Mark Price and Rev. Mike Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinton Cemetery in Hinton, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in David’s memory to support fallen firefighters.
