Bruce DeWayne Hotz Obituary
Bruce DeWayne Hotz was born on August 9, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Donald J. and Betty J. (Spear) Hotz. He passed away surrounded by the love of his family Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 65.
Bruce graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1978 and continued his education at OSU Technical Institute in Okmulgee, where he earned a degree in Automobile Paint and Body Repair.
Following graduation, Bruce moved to Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Pepsi, painting and repairing delivery trucks. He later returned to Oklahoma and worked for Dolese, continuing his career in truck painting and body repair. After moving to the Lookeba area, he worked in the oilfield for Tony Barger. Bruce later accepted what he considered his favorite job, serving as manager of the Speedway at the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City. In July 2013, he began working for the Wichita Gaming Commission as a Surveillance Supervisor where he really enjoyed his coworkers. This was the perfect job for him as he was very nosey. He was also a member of the Lookeba-Sickles Fire Department. Bruce enjoyed traveling with his life-long friend Rusty racing motorcycles.
Although Bruce had many occupations throughout his life, farming was always his true passion. Having driven a tractor since he was seven years old, he remained devoted to the family farm throughout his life.
When he was younger, Bruce enjoyed fast cars and loud music. After experiencing hearing loss, he found a new hobby racing RC cars with his grandson, Cedar, at Boog’s Racetrack in Binger. He also enjoyed hunting trips with his good friend, Kenny Brokaw.
Bruce accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the Sickles Community Church in Lookeba in 2010. On February 5, 1993, he married Kathy Wilson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hotz, of the home in Lookeba; daughter, Sara Harrison and husband Tyler of Lookeba; son, Travis Hotz of Okarche; two grandchildren, Cedar and Scouten, both of Lookeba; one brother, Mike Hotz of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law, Sharon Jones of Oklahoma City, OK, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald J. and Betty J. Hotz, and one granddaughter, Donnie Harrison.
