Bonnie Marie Hicks was born on September 8, 1944, in Hinton, Oklahoma, to James L. Murray and Trellis Georgia (Killman) Murray. She passed away at her home in Hydro, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Bonnie grew up in the Hinton, Lookeba, and Sickles communities. She married the love of her life, Tommy Hicks, on June 2, 1962, in Geary, Oklahoma. Together they made their home in Hydro, where they lovingly raised their family. Bonnie’s children often said there was nothing their mother couldn’t do. She was an exceptional cook, talented seamstress, and skilled homemaker. She canned food, made clothing for her children—including their winter coats—and took great pride in caring for her family. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, Bonnie enjoyed singing in church with her brother. Together they earned first-place honors at the Hinton Fair. She also had a passion for collecting rocks from her travels, using them to create a beautiful rock garden. Bonnie loved keeping fish and enjoyed both her custom-built aquarium beneath the stairs, lovingly built by Tommy, and the koi pond he created outside for her. Bonnie and Tommy shared a deep love for their family and opened their hearts and home to foster children throughout the years. She will be remembered for her many talents, her loving heart, and the unwavering devotion she showed to everyone she cared for.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Tommy Hicks of Hydro, Oklahoma; her children, Sheila Kimble and husband Clint of Hydro, Tommy “Boy” Hicks and wife Kim of Hydro, Lisa Unruh and husband Marlin of Hydro, Linda Hicks of Hydro, Ronnie Hicks and wife Marcia of Claremore, and Dominic Hicks and wife Jade of Geary.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris Kimble and wife Jessica; Randy Kimble and wife Ashley; Ashley Walker and husband Chris; Katy Kimble; Teddy Joe Hicks; Jody Don Hicks and wife Shay; Cody Don Hicks and wife Chansey of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Alex Strickland Hicks and wife Ashton; Scott Unruh and wife Kerri; Shawn Unruh; Stacia Whitmer and husband Brian of Stewartsville, Missouri; Kelsie Marie Adams(who was named after her grandmother) and husband Cade; Izzy Hicks; Ember Hicks; Mia Hicks; and Adeline Hicks.
