Bettye Lois (Floore) Coil passed away on February 17, 2023, in Fairfax, VA, at the age of 87. She was born on August 5, 1935, in Shuqualak, MS, as the only daughter of the late Guy and Ira Daniel Floore.
Growing up, Bettye was an active member of her hometown church and served alongside her surviving cousin, Earlene Lindsey, as a co-leader for the high school age children in her church. She was cherished as a fun-loving, but strong Christian leader for the group. She also loved visiting and going places with friends and especially enjoyed her many trips to the Gulf Coast beaches.
Bettye worked several years in the office at E. F. Nunn & Co., from high school age and beyond, and this piqued her interest in the area of accounting, and she subsequently chose this field of study in her college career. She later took an accounting position in Jackson, MS, where she met and later married Wayne Laverne Coil on July 27, 1974. Wayne was subsequently transferred to the Washington, DC, area and this prompted their move to Fairfax, VA.
Bettye earned her master’s degree and was employed by NCTA (National Cable & Telecommunications Association) as Controller in Washington for many years until she retired a few years ago. She and Wayne were married for 47 years, until his passing on October 9, 2021.
Bettye is survived by her longtime friend and cousin, Earlene Lindsey, of Northport, Alabama, and also her loyal caregiver, Marie Cooper of Fairfax, VA, as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Ira Floore, her younger brother, Thomas Floore, and her husband, Wayne Coil.
