Betty Jan (Wynn) Cooper

Betty Jan (Wynn) Cooper was born April 16, 1945 to E.K. (Gene) and Oleta Wynn in Oklahoma City, OK.  She passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her home in Hinton at the age of 78.  Betty attended Edmond Schools.  She had Cerebral Palsy and was one of the first graduates from the Central State University Special Education Teacher’s Training Department.  Betty’s family owned and operated Wynn IGA in Edmond.  She was united in marriage to John Anthony Cooper July 15, 1970 in Tulsa, OK and he preceded her in death September 28, 2011.  They moved around to several places following John’s military career.  Betty enjoyed shopping, collecting Coke memorabilia, and watching OU and OSU football.  She was a Baptist.  She and her brother Gordon were 18 months apart, he called her the “Bionic Woman” and was tough as nails for what she endured with her Cerebral Palsy. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, E.K. (Gene) and Oleta Wynn, and her brother, Gordon Wynn. 

She is survived by her two children, Pamela Ramming and her husband Monty of Hinton, and Shannon Cooper and his wife Christi of Tulsa; four grandchildren, Kaci Lenaburg and husband Ryan of Hinton, Anndee Turner and husband Yancy of Perkins, Ryan Ramming of Nashville, TN, and Kye Cooper of Sand Springs, OK; three great-grandchildren, Blaize Sharry and Bryer and Bennett Lenaburg; three sisters-in-law, Bev Wynn of Edmond and her children, Stacey and Lesley, Lavella Cooper of Hinton, and Wilma Cooper of South Carolina and her children, Jake and Rachel.

Memorial Service: Hinton-Turner Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, 11:00 am, August 21, 2023, Hinton, OK

Officiating: Rev. Charles King

Burial: will be held at a later date at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK
