Bertha L. (Henry) McCumber

Bertha L. "Bert"  McCumber was born March 31, 1923 in Foster, OK to Frank and Dixie (Lancaster) Henry.  She passed away, Saturday, January 1, 2022, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 98.  Bert grew up in the Hinton area.  She married Donald "Don" McCumber on January 29, 1949, in El Reno, OK.  The couple made their home in Hinton and then Del City.  They moved to the Yukon area for a number of years, and then spent their retirement years near Ft. Gibson Lake.  Bert and Don moved back to Hinton in 1999.  Bert enjoyed many activities, but in her later years really loved her iPad.  Puzzles were her passion.  After relocating to the Mansions at the Waterford, she enjoyed the activities there.  Bingo was a favorite along with dining with the friends she had made.   

Bert was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Don, parents, Frank and Dixie Henry, children, Jimmie Ray "J.R." Grigsby and Donita McCumber, brothers J.L. and Jorgell Henry.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Frances "Fran" Rickey of Oklahoma City, OK, and Sue Elkins-Battershell and husband John Battershell of Edmond, OK, 5 adopted children, 9 grandchildren,  12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.  brother and sister-in-law, Eldon and Donna Mae McCumber, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
