Ben D (Butch) Ewing, Jr. was born March 13, 1945 in Sherman, TX to Ben D. and Mary Jo (Henry) Ewing.
He passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 in Enid, OK at the age of 77. Ben graduated from Sherman High School in Sherman, TX in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Army Singnal Corps, serving his basic training in Fort Polk, LA, being stationed in South Korea and achieving the rank of Private First Class. He met Mary Fash when they were 14. He and Mary were united in marriage April 5, 1965 at the Putnam City United Methodist Church. In 1978, Ben joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary where he was Rear Commodore serving as Lake Patrol at many Oklahoma lakes. Ben worked for Southwestern Bell as State Radio Coordinator for 30 years, he worked as a Lay Missioner of Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference ministering in Seeley Chapel in Connerville, OK and Davis Chapel in Coweta, OK. Ben was a member of the Wheatland Masonic Lodge, and the Muskogee Lion’s Club. He was a member of the United Methodist Men serving as past president and was a past pack leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Ben loved his church and never met a stranger; he enjoyed cooking for the City of Geary workers, and most of all enjoyed being with his family.
Ben is survived by three children, Bryan Nevar of Seattle, WA, Branson Ewing and wife Alicia of Collinsville, OK, and Louann Ewing Roach of Enid, OK; 4 grandchildren, Emily and Aden Roach and Emmitt and Emillia Ewing; honorary sons, Darren Groce of Noble, OK, Gasper Hribersek of Ljubljana, Slovenia and Stephen Fletcher of Riverton, WY; two sisters-in-law, Christy Harrison and husband Roger of Oklahoma City, OK, Marilou Fash of Plano, TX; brother-in-law, Bobby Darnell of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Ben D. Sr and Mary Jo Ewing, wife Mary Ewing, son, Ben Delta Ewing V, brother, Joe Mack Ewing, sister, Shirley Ann Darnell, and Brother-in-law, Robert Fash.
