Ann Baxter Obituary

Joyce Ann Baxter was born on June 10, 1936 in Shelbyville, IN to Jess Lenox and Dreava (Blackburn) Ellsworth. She passed away on February 18, 2023 at her home in Watonga, OK at the age of 86. Ann attended Anderson High School in Anderson, IN. Ann married Larry Baxter on October 4, 1955 in Muncie, IN. They lived in Indiana until 1980, moved to Oklahoma where they stayed until 1994 before moving back to Indiana, eventually moving back to Watonga, OK in 2018. Ann enjoyed playing the accordion, the organ, dancing, music was main interest and could play by ear. She also enjoyed NASCAR, was an Elvis fan, loved collecting Elvis memorabilia, and she loved dogs, even had a dog named Elvis. She was a Cubs fan and a Colts fan but was a big fan of watching her own kids and her grandkids playing their sports. Ann was a member of the Nazarene Church in Indiana.  

 

Survivors include: her husband, Larry Baxter of Watonga, OK, her children, Barbara Brown and husband Phil of Elwood, IN, Ronnie Baxter and wife Tami of Middletown, IN, Bobby Baxter of Okeene, OK, and Brenda Sawyer and husband Jimmy of Watonga, OK, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, her cousins, Caren Alexandra of TN, and Randy Blackburn of TX, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Dreava Ellsworth, her aunt, Beatrice Alexandra, her uncles, Bill Alexandra and Junior Blackburn, and her grandparents, Basil and Cecil Blackburn.

 

 

 

Services: Watonga First Baptist Church, Friday, 10:00 AM, February 24, 2023, Watonga, OK

Officiating: Rev. Dennis King

Burial: Watonga IOOF Cemetery, Watonga, OK
