Almeda Joy Strong was born on August 11, 1961 in Clinton, OK to Thelma (Payne) Harden. She passed away on May 31, 2022 at her home in Hinton, OK at the age of 60. Joy was raised in Hinton and lived her whole life in Hinton. She married Alan Strong on April 21, 1978 in Anadarko, OK. They raised three children together, Dustin, Trent, and Tamra. Joy worked for many years as an EMT, at the nursing home, on the ambulance, and in the prison system. She worked at Crabtree's Convenience Stop and even drove a truck with her husband, Alan. She served as the social activity director for the Hinton Nursing Home and ran their Haunted Canyon Fundraiser for several years. Joy loved spending time with her grandkids, knitting blankets, riding horses, fishing, going to the lake, taking trips to the beach, helping with fundraisers and fishing tournaments. And looking for Bigfoot. She was the best mother, grandmother and cheerleader and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother Thelma Harden and brothers Harvey and Glen Harden.
Survivors Include: her husband Alan Strong of Hinton, OK, children Dustin Strong and wife Nikki of Tuttle, OK, Trent Strong and wife Leslie of Hinton, OK and Tamra Hacker and husband AJ of El Reno, OK, grandchildren Haley Wall, Slade Wall, Tyler Strong, Braydon Strong, Bentley Strong, Saylor Hacker and Rashelle Sethman, great grandchild, Gracie Strong, brothers, Dr. Troy Harden and wife Lee of Carnegie, OK, and Johnny Harden of Miles City, MT, mother in law, Onetta Ingram of Amarillo, TX, sisters in law Debbie Terry and husband Eddie of Amarillo, TX, Carolyn Ingram of Amarillo, TX, and many other special family and friends. If you knew Joy, you were always family.
Joy’s family would like to extend their thanks and grateful appreciation to Joy’s healthcare team, Russell Murray Hospice, Encompass Home Health, all of her doctors, nurses, and aides who took such good care of her. Joy was very grateful for all of them and so was her family.
