ALMEDA Margaret Griffin was born December 7, 1937, to Ray H. and Almeda M. (Homan) Karlin in Clinton, Oklahoma. She passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Oklahoma City at the age of 88. At the age of four months, she survived the Blizzard in April of 1938. She went on to graduate from Hydro High School in 1956 and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she earned a teaching degree. It was at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she met and fell in love with Eddie Griffin. They were united in marriage on August 25, 1958, at Bethel Methodist Church. She taught school for one year before following Eddie during his deployment. Soon they welcomed Lois, followed by David, and five years later, Karla. While the kids were in school in Yukon, Oklahoma, she began substituting for the school around 1975. Around 1980, she also became Mrs. Claus, making appearances until 1989. She was a constant for her three children and Eddie. Since moving to Weatherford in 1997, she spent her time playing the piano, sewing, and crocheting with the Happy Hookers of Hydro Methodist Church. Those preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, Bill Karlin; and her son-in-law, John Emmen.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie, of the home; daughter, Lois Griffin, of the home; daughter, Karla Emmen of Pryor; son, David Griffin and his wife Diana of Amarillo, TX; brother, Bob Karlin and wife, Jane, of Hydro; sister-in-law, Phyllis Karlin of Weatherford; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for diabetes, heart, and Alzheimer’s research.
Viewing will be Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Turner Funeral Home in Hinton, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Hydro Methodist Church in Hydro, Oklahoma, with Rev. Taylor Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hydro, Oklahoma. services entrusted to Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, Oklahoma.
