Alma Jean (Duncan) Kennedy Obituary

Alma “Jean” Duncan Kennedy, born on July 31, 1942, in a cabin outside Wellston Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 at the age of 82 years and 11 months. Jean was the beloved wife of the love of her life Kenneth Kennedy, whom she married on September 21,1957. Kenneth was her best friend and greatest love and together they built a beautiful family and life. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 10th 2020, after 62 wonderful years of marriage.

Jean was the cherished daughter of Lillie Marie Duncan and Eugene Branson Duncan. She was a devoted mother to her five children: Donita Kennedy Lucero, Mark Kennedy and wife Robin, Caren Kennedy Daugherty and husband Jeff, Don Kennedy and wife Christie, and Teresa Kennedy France and husband Greg. Jean’s love and dedication to her family were evident in every aspect of her life. She was also preceded in death by her mother Lillie and father Gene Duncan, mother-in-law Georgia and father-in- law Tom Kennedy, her brother Ted Duncan, daughter-in-law, Debbie Kennedy, and her granddaughter, Kaci Kennedy.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, for over 40 years Jean was a Mary Kay beauty consultant. She took the opportunity to grow her home based business and influence many people along the way. In the late 1990’s, she furthered her education by becoming a certified Nurse Aide, also taking computer courses and photography courses at Chisholm Trail Vo-tech. Jean began her US postmaster career in the early 2000’s and worked at several local area post offices and made many friends over her 13 years of service. Her commitment to Christ, her husband, family, work and her church family was unwavering. She was a great friend to many and respected and loved by all who knew her.

Jean found joy in many activities. She enjoyed reading her Bible and learning more about Christ in her Bible studies. She loved listening to Kenneth sing to the Lord, spending time with family members and friends, traveling with her cousin JoAnn,  making special trips with her daughters Donita, Caren and Teresa, gardening with Mark, listening to her boys Mark and Don tell childhood stories, play cards and dominos with family and friends, and watching her hummingbirds. She loved traveling and exploring new places. However, her greatest joy was being with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jean’s family was her greatest treasure and accomplishment, and she was treasured by them in return. She enjoyed spending time with each of them, creating lasting memories and sharing her love. She, through her walk with Christ, led many to the Lord.

Jean is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Patrick Lucero, Michael Lucero, Meagan Kennedy, Matt Kennedy and his wife Denice Kennedy, Mallori Smith and husband Ronnie, Taler Broadbent and husband Jared, Branson Daugherty and wife Taylor, Christina Sell, Lisa Thompson, Sarah Kennedy Westland and husband Joe, Cole Swaggart and wife Mackenzie, Harrison Kennedy, Tanner France and wife Hayley, Bryant Eyster and wife Alex, Madison Burton and husband Dillon, and Karson Walters and husband Clint. She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. What a legacy!

A loving wife, mother, and friend, Jean’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
