Shirley LaVerne Collier was born November 21, 1937 to T. G. and Frances (Page) Franks in Milburn, OK. She passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Summers Health Services in Okeene, OK at the age of 81. Shirley graduated from Watonga High School. She married Joel Neal Collier June 16, 1955 in Watonga, OK and he preceded her in death November 10, 1997 in Watonga, OK. They lived most of their married life in Watonga and Cherokee, and a short period of time in Rogers, Arkansas. Shirley worked for several years at the Watonga TG&Y and kept the books for Joe at Joe’s Body Shop. After Joe passed away she worked for Karl’s Apple Mart. She enjoyed reading and was a Watonga Eagle’s football fan. Shirley was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Watonga where she had been active in WMU, and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include five children, Diana Warden and husband Lloyd of Binger, OK; Melinda Peters of Bloomfield, Indiana; Carma Luetkemeyer and husband David of Fay, OK; Cindy Springer and husband Kelly of Okeene, OK; and Adam Collier of Watonga, OK. Grandchildren are Jesse and James Peters of Bloomfield, Indiana; Chris Luetkemeyer and wife Alissa of Thomas, OK; Sarah Janzen and husband Andrew of Fay, OK; Michael Luetkemeyer and wife Dayla of Watonga, OK; Patrick Luetkemeyer and fiancé Sydney of Tulsa, OK; Scott Collier and wife Angie of Norman, OK, Melissa Smith of Arlington, VA, Erin Matthews and husband Tommy of Bixby, OK; Rachel Brown and husband Brandon of Durant, OK, and Andrew Warden of Binger, OK. Great-grandchildren are Collier, Pearl, Kylar, Kyra, Kirstan, Layton, Noah, Alivia, Stella, Ryker, Lillie, Emily, Desirae, and Kaitlyn. Also surviving her are sister-in-law and longtime friend LaVerna Bumgardner of Kentucky, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends, and all the wonderful staff and residents of Summers Health Services, especially her roommate Linda.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Collier, parents T. G. and Frances Franks, grandparents Lewis and Hattie Page, aunt Lessie Whitfield, two grandchildren Matthew Peters and Lisa Warden, one greatgrandchild Daniel Matthews, siblings Eron, Theron, Henry, T. G., Rachel, Elmer, Arlie, Maxie, Bobby, Verna Sue, and Jimmy.
