Mathew Mayer Obituary

Mathew Chance Mayer was born March 2, 1996 in Enid, Oklahoma to Roger G. and Lisa (Craighead) Mayer.

He passed away on July 5, 2019 at the age of 23, in Enid, Oklahoma. He was their miracle baby, the one-in-million chance (his middle name).  Mathew graduated from Geary High School in 2014, attended Redlands Community College in El Reno for a short time but always dreamed of attending flight classes at Spartan School for Aviation. He worked in Oklahoma City for Mutts Food Truck, CC Transload in Okeene, welder at Mann’s Rental, CGB Ent Inc, and interned at the Jim Stafford Museum in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He had the opportunity to fly to Geary and wanted to be pilot and see the world.  He was very smart mechanically, musically talented, trained to drive a locomotive, and run a CNC Laser computer.

Mathew came across as shy and quiet until you got to know him. He held the key to his mother’s heart, was a lot of fun, and meant the world to his family. He had 100’s of friends who adored him, he loved running into friends and just hanging out, playing Xbox, and helping kids in the neighborhood. He loved his motorcycle, loved working on it and said there was no kind of freedom like it. He enjoyed going to the river, fishing and chasing girls. He had an excellent sense of humor and was very good looking, and quite a few women regret not marrying him. He always found the good in everyone. “To the world you may only be one person but to One person you may be the world.”

He was preceded in death by his Grandpa Lonnie Craighead, his Great Grandma Elvia Freeman, Great grandparents Claude and Annie Ervin, and his best friend Danny Garcia.

Survivors Include: His mother Lisa Craighead-Mayer and father Roger Mayer of Enid, a brother Jeremy Mayer of Geary, a sister Bailey Gorman of Enid, his Grandmother Claudena Doughty of Geary, Aunts and Uncles; Tina O’Neal of Woodward, Shelly and Jeremy McMasters, Darren and Aubry Gorman of Geary, Waylon Craighead of Stringtown: cousins Brandon O’Neal, Ashley and Keith Zumwalt of Woodward, Tanner and Lauren Crothers of Geary, Kimber and Nick Brown of Weatherford, Kyle and Ashton Craighead, Darian and Dustin Graham of Hinton, and Gage, Easton and Addison Gorman of Geary, OK;  and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends, including his 616 friends on Facebook and his 2000 gaming friends on Xbox.
