July 9, 1920 ~ November 26, 2019 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Leona Price Obituary

Leona (Seal) Price was born July 9, 1920, to D.C. and Zena (Chisum) Seal in Palo Pinto County, TX.  After her family moved to Oklahoma in 1921, she became a lifelong resident of Caddo County.   Leona died November 26, 2019, at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at age 99.

Leona graduated from Sickles High School in 1939.  She was a good student and played both softball and basketball.  She quit school for one year at age 14 to help support her family during the Great Depression.  However, obtaining an advanced degree in education remained a very important goal for her.  She accomplished this in 1969, by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southwestern State College.  She later taught at both Lookeba-Sickles and Binger schools.  Leona was always community and civic-minded, serving as an election volunteer and receiving many meritorious service awards throughout her life.  She enjoyed quilting, bowling, painting, Reading Buddies, Rook, Quest Club, and many other activities.

On October 9, 1940, Leona married Herbert K. Price.  They were married 60 years until Herbert passed away in August of 2000.  They farmed in the Sickles area for most of those years, raising crops and rearing four children.  Leona worked as a school cook at Lookeba-Sickles.  She also taught Quantity Cooking in the vocational program there.   Her children, grandchildren and many community members will agree that her fried chicken was the best!

Leona was baptized into Christ in her early 20s and has been a member of His church for over 75 years.   The one thing most mentioned about her life from others was her kind and caring way of serving, mentoring, and honoring others.  Leona always wanted to make certain that NO person ever felt left out or discounted.  She taught children’s Bible classes for many years.  Her own children were taught by her gracious example to honor and to serve others as if serving the Lord.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert K. Price, and one son-in-law, Randal Clark; her parents, D.C. and Zena Seal; two brothers, Charley Seal and Herschel Seal; three sisters, Christeen Price and husband Bithel, Decema Shaw and husband Bus, Modell Hitt and husband Roy, and one brother-in-law Gaylon Townsend.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce Price and wife Nikita, Glen Price and wife Marilyn; two daughters; Carol Clark, Juanell Seitter and husband Lyle; one sister Zelda Townsend and one sister-in-law Bonnie Seal.  At the time of her death, Leona had 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
