Jodie Washburn Obituary

Jodie “Tator” Washburn was born on March 4, 1976 in Lawton, OK to Donald Eugene and Delores A. (Keechi) Washburn. She passed away on July 27, 2019 at the age of 43. Jodie “Tator” Washburn grew up in rural Oney and attended Oney School K-9, and then attended Binger-Oney 10-12, graduating in 1994. She was very active in sports, especially softball and basketball, and achieved many awards and honors throughout her high school years.  After graduation, she attended Redlands Junior College, and received her associate’s degree. In 1997 she furthered her education while attending UCO in Edmond, OK and received a Bachelor of Science degree.  She later went on to the University of Oklahoma and received her Master’s Degree in Sociology, while working as a social worker in her specialized field. Jodi was a compassionate and caring person, who loved working with people and helping them in any way she could.

Jodie was an avid animal lover, but best of all, she loved her four legged feline companion “BOO”, who she saw as her family and treated him as her child. Besides her mother, Boo was there at the beginning when she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer, and remained by her side until his recent passing, which had broken her heart. Even though Jodie found music to be encouraging when faced with obstacles, it was Boo that calmed her nerves when tough times came calling.

Jodie was a tribal member of the Delaware Nation of Western Oklahoma and was proud of her Native American heritage. She loved her family and friends just as much as they loved her. Making wonderful memories with her friends and family was one of her favorite past times. She will be dearly missed by all.  She is survived by her mother, Delores A. Washburn, of Fort Cobb, OK, and her Dad, Don E. Washburn, of Stamping Ground, KY, 3 Sisters; Laurie Noakes, of OKC, Phyllis Pack and husband Clint, of Binger, OK, Kim Pfaff, of Yukon, OK and 1 brother Ben Washburn, of Fort Cobb, OK and many nieces and nephews and their children as well as several  aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jodie was preceded in death by her grandparents- Robert & Louise Keechi; uncles- Leonard (Bud) Keechi and Timothy Lynn Keechi; one aunt, Mildred Keechi (Paisley), and a brother-in-law, Don Pfaff and her special family member - “BOO”.
