Jerry J. Hazlett was born on November 6, 1949 in Sacramento, CA to Albert and Velma Dorine (Starbuck) Hazlett. He passed away on January 9, 2019 at the age of 69, at the V.A. hospital in OKC, OK after a 4 month battle with Lung cancer. Jerry attended Hinton Public Schools and graduated in 1968 from Central High School in Oklahoma City, OK. He joined the United States Navy on January 8, 1969 and was honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) on January 16, 1987. Jerry founded Amer-I-Can, an ammunition manufacturing business. He was a member of NRA, 50 caliber Shooters Association, Varmit Hunters Association, and Gun Owners of America. He was a Christian, studied Bible scriptures, and worshipped with the United Church of God online.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Velma Hazlett, and a brother Jimmy Ray Hazlett who died at birth in 1946.
Survivors Include: his sister, Carol (Hazlett) Starbuck, Nephew, George Michael Buckpitt Jr., and nieces, Marsha M. Murphy, and Mary Carroll, as well as many other relatives and friends. His niece, Marsha: "He was like a kind, loving father. Something I would never have known had I not been here to be his caregiver the last few months.” His good friend, Judy Gipson: “We’re gonna miss that grumpy old fart!”
