Homer Meeks Obituary

Homer Darrell Meeks was born on April 9, 1943 to Homer Lafayette and Artis Geneva (Skelton) Meeks. He passed away on January 5, 2019 in Anadarko, OK at the age of 75. Homer was born in Dr. Hahn's office in Binger. His family lived near Oney until moving to Binger when Homer was two years old. He attended Binger schools and graduated from there in 1961. Homer loved woodworking and excelled in shop class. During high school he worked at William Bench's service station. He later worked for Unit Parts in OKC, Owned the Sinclair Filling Station in Binger, managed the Farmer's Coop in Binger, and owner-operator of Meeks Trucking Co. for many years. He drove for Sequoia Carpet Mills, Koch Trucking, and Koph Trucking. Homer owned Meeks Sprigging and Farming, and most recently helped Dee in Meeks Diner. He and Delores "Dee" Beaty were married on August 9, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home on the same farm his parents moved to when he was just a toddler. Homer always looked forward to the Binger-Oney Alumi meetings; getting acquainted and visiting with other graduates. He loved all things with wheels. He built and raced stock cars, was a very talented mechanical individual and was in the process of restoring his Dad’s Ford pick-up which he had been driving since he ten years old. He also loved farming and raising cows. He was a member of the Binger Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Artis Meeks, his son, Deanie Meeks, his siblings, Cyrus Oneal Meeks, Iris Gearlene King, and Herman Lavonne Meeks.

Survivors Include: his wife, Dee Meeks of Binger, OK, his children, Terri Meeks and Stephen John of Binger, OK, Tammy Morris and Marty of Binger, OK, and Pammy Fowler and Rob of Fairbanks, AK, his grandchildren, J.J. Moorehead and Angela, Kim Parker and Donnet, Rikki Sams and Gilbert, Austin Meeks and Sheena, J.D. Martinek and Sabrina, Jessie Huffman, Jared Morris and Savanna, Jeremy Morris and Kaylin, Marti Michelle Morris and Brannon, Sean Fowler and Kelsey, and Kaitlyn Fowler, his great grandchildren, Mahala,Toreabelle, Jacelyn, Kaylee, Gage, A.J. Hesston, Hudson, McKenna, and Adalyne, his sister, Donna Long of OKC,OK, and his uncle, Jearl Meeks of Muskogee, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
