Charles Jaques Obituary

Charles H. Jaques was born April 28, 1942 to E.D. “Bud” and Marguerite (Critchfield) Jaques in Geary, OK.  He passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 77.  Charles graduated from Hinton High School in 1960.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Panhandle State University and received his Master’s from SWOSU. Charles served in the US Army during the

Vietnam War.  He married Glennette Rogers on September 2, 1963 in Hinton, OK.  Soon after, he began his coaching and teaching career at Gracemont Public Schools and then on to Eakly Public Schools some years later.  Charles taught at Lexington, Arkoma and Hinton Public Schools.  He coached the Gracemont State Championship Baseball team of 1969 and the 1994 Hinton Academic Team State Champions.  After retiring from teaching as principal from Gracemont Public Schools he continued with Jaques Tax Service, farming and serving as the Secretary of the Hinton Cemetery Co.  Charles loved raising all kinds of farm animals.  He enjoyed his cattle, sheep, goats, quail, and especially loved his chickens.  He was a member of the Gilbert-Fossett American Legion Post #230.  He served on the Hinton Town Council as Mayor, was a former member of the Hinton Kiwanis Club, was a charter member of the Hinton Schools Foundation,  was a member of the First United Methodist Church serving on SPRC Committee, served as a Methodist Church Trustee, and served as the president of the United Methodist Men and scheduled the annual Groundhog Supper, and was a member of the Hinton Chamber of Commerce where he served as past president. 

 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Marguerite Jaques and sister Patricia Jaques.

 

Those dearly missing him are his wife; Glennette Jaques of the home in Hinton, OK, children; Michael Jaques and wife Shawnda of Hinton, OK, and Rebecca Jaques of Hinton, OK, and grandchildren; Christanna Edmonds of Norman, OK and Gabriel Edmonds of Hinton, OK as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

 

 

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Charles’s memory to Gilbert-Fossett American Legion Post #230 to help scholarship students attending Girls and Boys State.

  

 

Services:  10 A.M., Monday, September 30, 2019, First United Methodist Church, Hinton, OK

Officiating:  Rev. Gary Haynes and Rev. Keith Gillham

Burial:  Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, OK

Military Service conducted by American Legion #230
