Bobby Vance Obituary

Bobby Don Vance was born April 12, 1936 to Josiah Walter and Sarah “Sally” Thressel (Pittman) Vance in Hinton, OK.  He passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon, OK at the age of 83.  Bobby Don graduated from Binger High School.  He played American Legion baseball in Cordell where he acquired lifelong friends. He attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford where he played baseball, and later transferred to Oklahoma State University where he wrestled and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.  Bobby Don also served in the Army National Guard.  He taught Chemistry at Geary Public Schools, worked at Nalco Chemical Company, U.S. Gypsum, Vermeer Bailing Company, and was actively involved in farming and ranching until retirement.  Bobby Don enjoyed shooting guns, loved to dance and would attend Czech Hall Dancing in Yukon, enjoyed going to gun shows, reading, and loved to visit with friends.  He was a member of the N.R.A., the Binger Rotary Club, was a past board member for Oklahoma Farm Bureau, and served on the Binger Schools Board of Education.  Bobby Don was saved and baptized at the Binger Baptist Church.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sally Vance; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Bobby Don is survived by his four daughters, Shannon Nix and her husband Tommy of Tahlequah, OK, Vanda Watson and her husband Tony of Arroyo Grande, CA, Aimee Vance and Artie Jacobi of Marshall, MO, and Sarah House and her husband Zach of Hinton, OK; one son, Don Kevin Vance; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Shayla, Paxton and Delaney Nix all of Tahlequah, OK, Rylie Bowers and her husband Cody and their two children, Indigo and Coral of Arroyo Grande, CA, Valyn Tellez and her husband Cesar and their daughter, Avalyn of Marysville, WA, Andee and Avery Watson of Arroyo Grande, CA, and Levi and Talli Taylor and Tytan and Paizley House all of Hinton, OK; and several cousins, other relatives and friends.   

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation c/o Dementia and Alzheimer’s Research.
