Billy Green Obituary

Billy Olsen Green

Billy Olsen Green was born on June 11, 1943, to Bill and Cleo (Sewell) Green in Wheeler, TX and passed away on August 27, 2019, at Weatherwood Assisted Living Center in Weatherford, OK at the age of 76 years.

Billy grew up in Oney, graduating high school in 1962. That same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Darlene Gayle Ralston. Fifty years later, on February 10, 2012, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Billy and Darlene’s marriage and love for each other produced three sons, Darryl Wayne in 1963, Dennis Eugene in 1965, and Bobby Warren in 1974. Bill and Darlene lived and worked all their lives in various towns in Oklahoma, including Hobart, Fort Cobb, Stillwater, Binger, Oney, and Weatherford.

Billy learned carpentry skills at an early age working alongside his dad for several years. He used those skills all of his life doing various projects for the family as well as others. He learned the art of meat cutting which took the family to Stillwater for a couple of years where he worked for the OSU Food Services Department. He later moved the family back to Binger, and he worked at the Fort Cobb Locker Plant for several years. When the oil boom hit western Oklahoma, he started driving a truck and worked for Hilderbrandt Tank Service in Binger until the boom slowed down. Billy and Darlene then purchased and operated Green’s Lucky 13 west of Oney until he semi-retired and started working in the meat department at Ratliff’s Supermarket in Fort Cobb. They sold the Lucky 13 after operating it for 13 years and moved to Fort Cobb. Later in 2011, they moved to Weatherford to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

In their early years, Billy enjoyed his roping horse Dusty and spent many hours participating in area rodeos and at Monty Howell and Uncle Elmer Blood’s arenas participating in calf roping events.  Family fun included boating, fishing, and camping at Fort Cobb Lake where they spent many weekends and holidays. Also, their boys participated in basketball, baseball, 4-H, FFA and livestock showing, and they were devoted in supporting these activities. Later when Billy and Darlene had the Lucky 13, he became interested in golf, which became his passion in his retirement years. He devoted many hours perfecting his game at the Fort Cobb and Weatherford Golf Courses, all while making countless friends with fellow golfers. Up until his final days, you would find him at the golf course if the wind wasn’t blowing too much.

Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Darlene, his parents, his sister Lavanda, his mother and father-in-law Jack and Frances Ralston, his brother-in-law Bernard Ralston, and his sister-in-law Arlene Haskins.

Survivors include his three sons, Darryl, Dennis and his wife Mundy, Bobby and his wife Robin, grandchildren Amy Beck and her husband Ryan, Jaxon, Tobi, Jayce, Maggie and Lakin Green, great-grandchildren Derek, Addison and Nahliya Beck and Cooper and Cayden McCarty. Also, his sister Janine Dorsey and her husband Nolan, his brother Larry Green and his partner Cris, his brothers-in-law, Lynn Byrd and Darrell Haskins and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Ralston as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
