Bernice Gregory Phillips was born January 29, 1929 on a farm north east of Binger to Roy and Martha (Tucker) Gregory. She passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home in Corn Oklahoma at the age of 90. Bernice had three siblings Laverna, Erma Jean, and Leroy. At the age of seven she lost her mother to tuberculosis and was raised by her father with the help of both sets of grandparents. Bernice attended Centerville and Lookeba Schools. She left high school and went to work in Binger caring for children and working at the Binger Newspaper. In 1946 she met and married Willie Phillips and they raised six children, five boys and a girl. She was a housewife and mother, did fieldwork, enjoyed raising a garden, helped raise chickens and cows. Bernice enjoyed sewing, needle work, and canning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Martha Gregory, her husband of 53 years, Willie Phillips, two sons, Patrick Phillips and Calvin Phillips, a grandson Gaylon Phillips, and two sisters Laverna Mitchell and Erma Jean Thompson.
Bernice is survived by her four children, Carolyn Austin and her husband Mike, Billy Phillips, Jimmie Phillips, and Jack Phillips and his wife Kay all of Weatherford Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Deborah Phillips of Noble, OK; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother Leroy Gregory and wife Treva of Binger, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
