Alice Scouten Obituary

 

 

 

Alice Virginia Scouten was born on May 31, 1920 in Eakly, OK to James Henry and Mamie (Williams) Davidson. She passed away on November 8, 2019 in Edmond, OK at the age of 99. Alice grew up in the Eakly, Sickles, and Minco areas in Western Oklahoma. She married Edward Earl Scouten in Eakly, OK on January 29, 1939. She was an avid reader and before TV, she would read to the family. Alice drove a school bus for a few years in the 1970’s. She loved to make pies and Christmas candy, and enjoyed ceramics, needlework, and working along on the farm. She was an active member of the Home Demonstration Club, and of Country Jamboree for many years. She belonged to the Eastern Star for 50 years, was a 2 term Worthy Matron and very proud that through the Eastern Star she was involved in community service. Alice was an active believing Christian. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Alice raised 5 kids, 3 grandkids, and had a hand in raising her great grandkids, and involved in their activities. She also loved to talk on the phone.

 

 

Survivors Include: her children, Robert Scouten and wife Mary Lou of Hydro, OK, Zelda Long of Bartlesville, OK, and Keith Scouten of Sand Springs, OK; daughter in law, Paralea Scouten of Edmond, OK; her grandchildren, *  Mike Long, Robert Dale Scouten, Jon Scouten, Amanda Scouten, Rachel Scouten Long, Edward Scouten; step-granddaughters, Vicki Sodders Reed, and Stacy Sodders King; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; her niece, Loretta Jean Scouten Litterell, as well as many other relatives and friends.

 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mamie Davidson, her husband, Edward Earl Scouten, her 2 sons, James Dale Scouten and Melvin Earl Scouten, son in law, Steve Long, and daughter in law, Virginia Scouten, great grandson, Ryan James; siblings: Ray Davidson, Bill Davidson, Sophia “Betty” Sebring, Clara “Kay” Morrison, Harold Davidson, Ethel Scouten, and their spouses.  

 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: Oklahoma Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, 300 NE 18th ST, Oklahoma City, Ok 73105

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 pm, viewing will be Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 am 9:00 pm. 

Services: Hinton Turner Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, 2:30 pm, Nov. 13, 2019, Hinton, OK

Officiating: Rev. Joe Sanders
